The Fine Arts Commission of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist is pleased to host Organist Vincent Carr in recital on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, at 7:00 PM.

Mr. Carr is the Associate Professor of Organ and Sacred Music at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. After earning undergraduate degrees in Organ Performance and Spanish from Indiana University, he continued his graduate music studies at Yale University, where he was the recipient of numerous competition prizes. His long career as an organist has involved choirmaster and organist positions at some of the nation's most noteworthy churches and cathedrals, namely the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark, NJ and the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Garden City, NY. In 2007, he founded the Wednesdays at Noon concert series as a mission to the city of Newark and beyond. He has served as a musical director for the International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival in the UK, as well as the celebrity Irish singing group The Priests..

He will perform an eclectic program of works by John Cook, David Conte, Myron Roberts and others.

This recital celebrates the completion of a two-year repair and restoration of the Noehren organ, including the addition of a chamade trumpet.

There is no charge for this recital, though a freewill offering will be taken.
