The MacDowell Club of Milwaukee is pleased to present two of its finest organists in a concert entitled Or-ganza! on Sunday afternoon, February 17th, at St. Jude the Apostle Parish, 734 Glenview Avenue (84th Street), Wauwatosa.

This year’s featured artists are Wallace McClain Cheatham and Sheri Masiakowski. Showing the colors of the church’s Schantz organ, their program will include works by Bach, Dupré, Norman, Peeters, Still, and Cheatham’s Toccata on Acts 2:1-4.

Cheatham is an internationally acclaimed musician, scholar, organist, pianist and composer. His compositions, which span a variety of genres, have been performed in national and international settings, the most recent being his “Suite for Soprano Saxophone and Organ” at the World Saxophone Congress in Scotland. Many have been published by a number of prominent presses. He is a subject of biographical record in Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in America, and Who’s Who in American Education. Some of his scores have been published by Shawnee, Alfred, Master-Player Library, Oxford University Press, Southern Illinois University Press and Jomar Press. Dr. Cheatham’s research dealing with opera as it relates to the African-American experience has been published in internationally circulated journals of scholarship. His book, Dialogues on Opera and the African American Experience, is housed in libraries worldwide. Cheatham was recently inducted into the Knoxville College Hall of Fame.

Sheri Masiakowski is a Milwaukee area free-lance organist/church musician. Her education includes advanced degrees from Alverno College (Milwaukee), Westminster Choir College (Princeton, New Jersey) and the St. Francis School of Pastoral Ministry (Milwaukee).  Over the years Sheri has served several area parishes as Director of Music -- Our Lady of Lourdes, St. Alphonsus (Greendale) and St. Gregory the Great.  She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Archdiocesan Liturgical Musicians' Association (ALMA) and the MacDowell Club of Milwaukee.
