AMERICAN GUILD OF ORGANISTS
MILWAUKEE CHAPTER
This fall, Zion in Wausau will host organist, Timothy Olsen in concert on Sunday, October 4 at 3:00 p.m. He teaches a joint studio of high school, undergraduate and graduate organ majors as the Kenan Professor of Organ at the University of North Carolina School fo the Arts and Associate Professor of Organ at Salem College in Winston-Salem, NC. He was recently appointed Assistant Dean of Graduate Programs at UNCSA. Dr. Olsen is also currently Cantor at Augsburg Lutheran Church in Winston-Salem, where he oversees the music program directing the adult choirs, playing for services, and directing a music staff of an assistant musician and a music intern.
He frequently presents master classes and workshops for universities, churches, and chapters of the AGO. He was a featured recitalist and presenter at both the 2011 Region IV AGO Convention in Greensboro, NC and the 2011 Region VII AGO Convention in Oklahoma City. Dr. Olsen has performed solo organ recitals at venues in 24 states.
He received a Bachelor of Music degree in 1997 from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. Dr. Olsen studied with David Higgs at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, where he eared the Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music Degrees in Organ Performance and Literature as well as a Master of Arts Degree in Music Theory Pedagogy. His recital will contain works from various composers.
