Each venue seats about 600, and each presentation is typically “standing room only.” It is advisable to arrive at least 15 minutes ahead of time to be sure of a seat. The doors open 30 minutes before each presentation. Each presentation is approximately two hours in length, including a fifteen minute intermission. Each facility is handicap-accessible.

Organization: The Milwaukee Area Messiah Community Chorus and Orchestra (www.mamcco.org), now in its sixth season under the direction of Brian Dearing, is a community ecumenical choir and orchestra formed for the purpose of enriching the lives of the residents of the Greater Milwaukee area by spreading God’s Word through music, including Handel’s Messiah. MAMCCO is composed primarily of volunteers committed to learning and presenting great musical works, providing free opportunities for people to hear them, and providing the opportunity for people to respond to them by collecting a voluntary donation for a charity to be designated by MAMCCO. MAMCO is itself a registered charity; donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.

The Presentations:This year, the group comprises over 90 chorus members, 4 professional soloists, and a nineteen-piece professional chamber orchestra. The group presents approximately an hour and three-quarters of the music of Handel’s Messiah, omitting each year a different collection of approximately three quarters of an hour of music. During the course of its prior five seasons, each of the “standard” pieces of the complete work has been presented at least once. This year, the group will introduce a number of the so-called “variants,” including the only extant choral variant. The standard of music-making is quite high. You can view some video clips from the group’s 2011 season at its website (www.mamcco.org) behind the “Media” tab.
