Practical ideas for running an effective children/youth choral rehearsal

Concepts on vocalizations, rehearsal pacing, teaching new material and sight reading to boost the effectiveness of your limited rehearsal time. A careful use of “toys” to capture the imagination and attention of your choristers so as to demonstrate musical concepts, and a hands on demonstration of the use of canons, rounds and catches that assist your youth choir to build vocal independence.

Composer/conductor Paul French is the President of the Board of Directors of the American Federation Pueri Cantores, the international student choral organization of the Roman Catholic Church and conducts festivals and leads workshops for the organization throughout the country.  He is the Music Director at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Chicago, where he leads a thriving choral program of adults’ and children’s voices. French is also the Director of Choral Recordings for World Library Publications, and for whom he is the editor of a choral series dedicated to works for children’s choirs.
