How to become an Improviser
Trinity Episcopal Church
Presenter: Christopher Berry

What does it take to truly become an improviser at the organ? What prerequisites
are necessary? How do I acquire the skills necessary? How do I develop the
skills I have? For information on these topics, from a French perspective,
please join us!

Christopher Berry is Professor of Organ at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and currently Director of Music at The Basilica of St. Josaphat in Milwaukee. Mr. Berry has held positions at Church of the Incarnation in Dallas, The Pontifical North American College in Rome, Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Manhattan, and the Basilica of the National Shrine in Washington, D.C.  Mr. Berry was a two-time semifinalist in the AGO National Competition in Organ Improvisation and studied improvisation in France with Sophie-Véronique Cauchefer-Choplin.

From Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Mr. Berry holds degrees from the University of North Texas (BM), the University of Kansas (MM), and the Conservatoire de Rueil-Malmaison (Premier Prix). His teachers include Jesse Eschbach, James Higdon, and François Henri-Houbart.
